On July 8th, the first comprehensive art exhibition on the theme of giant pandas in China opened at the Memory International Art Exhibition Center in the eastern suburbs of Chengdu. More than 600 different forms of art works, including photography, calligraphy and painting, sculpture, trendy toys, and figurines, will refresh visitors' understanding and imagination of giant pandas.

The "Black and White" Panda Art and Creativity Exhibition takes giant pandas as its core element, gathering top panda IPs and panda art works, aiming to build a communication platform and exhibition stage for art masters, art creators, and cultural and creative enterprises to the public, and to provide a stunning "Panda IP Feast" for the general public.

The exhibition covers an area of 2500 square meters and includes master level art areas, multimedia areas, intangible cultural heritage art areas, panda trendy art play areas, and other exhibition areas. More than 600 art works, including calligraphy, painting, sculpture, photography, intangible cultural heritage, trendy art, figurines, NFTs, etc., are exhibited. Most of the exhibits in this exhibition are created by local artists in Chengdu, as well as works by artists from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and even overseas. Among them, there are traditional art works brought by eight national art award winners and inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, including Xu Liaoyuan, Dao'an, Xue Kang, as well as works from trendy art brands such as Amazing Panda, Wanwuji, and "Good HD".

In the central exhibition area surrounded by a 5-meter-high exhibition wall, the reporter saw intangible cultural heritage works with giant panda elements such as Shu embroidery, silver silk flowers, lacquerware, bamboo weaving, etc., which complemented the decoration of "bamboo tubes" made of renewable paper.

Curator Fang Zixi stated that giant pandas are not only beloved "national treasures" by people from all over the world, but also provide creative inspiration for artists, representing a spirit of tolerance that complements the temperament of Chengdu.

Black and white are the representative colors of giant pandas, with white reflecting all light and black absorbing all light. The combination of these two colors symbolizes the process of balance and fusion, "said Fang Zixi. She stated that this exhibition is the first comprehensive art exhibition in China that covers so many art forms and features giant pandas as the main element.

Fang Zixi stated that since the discovery of giant pandas by French naturalist Armand Davy in 1869, giant pandas have quickly become a beloved cultural IP among audiences worldwide, attracting the attention of artists from various countries. She hopes that art exhibitions themed around giant pandas can become a window for dialogue between different cities and cultures in the future.

It is reported that this exhibition is guided by the Propaganda Department of the Chengdu Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, hosted by the Chengdu Cultural Industry Development Promotion Center and the Propaganda Department of the Chenghua District Committee of the Communist Party of China, organized by Sichuan Hengwan Cultural Communication Co., Ltd., and supported by the Chengdu Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Chengdu Dongfang Zhenghuo Cultural Media Co., Ltd. The exhibition will last until July 29th and will be open to the public for free during that period.
